Thursday, June 18th, marked a truly special milestone for the Grosvenor Business Club – our 10th event. What began in 2024 as a vision to create a different kind of networking experience has grown into one of Birmingham’s most vibrant professional communities, and last night was everything we could have hoped for to mark hitting double digits.
The atmosphere in Bar 11 was electric from the moment guests arrived. Prosecco was flowing, familiar faces were reconnecting, and newcomers were being swept into conversations almost immediately. It was a fitting reminder of exactly why we started the Business Club in the first place.
A Decade of Connection in the Making
Ten events. Hundreds of conversations. Countless collaborations born in the heart of St. Paul’s Square.
Our Sales and Marketing Manager, Holly Mourbey, captured it perfectly on the night:
“Seeing people who met at our very first event now collaborating on major projects is exactly why we do this. It’s not just about what you do – it’s about who you are.”
That spirit was very much alive throughout the evening, with guests old and new mingling freely and the kind of genuine energy you simply can’t manufacture.

The Main Event: Live & Lead on Growth from the Inside Out
For our milestone 10th gathering, we wanted a session that felt different – something that went beyond tactics and strategy to address the person behind the business. We were thrilled to welcome our guest speaker, Dee from Live & Lead, who delivered one of the most thought-provoking presentations the Business Club has ever seen.
The session centred on a powerful central idea: before you can grow your business, you have to grow yourself.
One of the standout moments of the evening was an honest, unflinching look at impostor syndrome: that nagging inner voice that tells you you’re not qualified, not ready, or not enough. It’s something that affects entrepreneurs and executives at every level, and yet it’s rarely talked about openly in professional settings.
The room was noticeably engaged; there were nods of recognition and even a few quiet laughs of relief.
Dee also discussed the professional mindset – not in the vague, buzzword-heavy way the term is often thrown around, but with real, actionable frameworks for reframing the stories we tell ourselves about failure, risk, and self-worth.
Guests were encouraged to examine the beliefs quietly holding their businesses back, and to consider what becomes possible when you stop approaching challenges from a position of self-doubt.
With the event falling at the halfway point of 2026, the timing felt deliberate. The session offered a genuinely valuable prompt to pause, take stock, and re-enter the second half of the year with a clearer sense of purpose, both personally and professionally. Several guests commented that it felt like exactly the reset they didn’t know they needed.
The Conversations That Followed
As always, the magic didn’t stop when the presentation wrapped up. The room buzzed with follow-on discussions well into the evening, with guests reflecting on the insights shared and applying them to their own journeys. These are the moments – informal, unscripted, and full of possibility – that the Grosvenor Business Club was built for. That’s not to mention the wonderful snacks provided by Zindiya, a featured vendor at nearby Saint Paul’s Market, which provided delicious fuel for these conversations.
What’s Next?
We are so proud of how far the Business Club has come, and we are already looking ahead to our next event. If last night was your first time joining us, we hope it won’t be your last. If you’ve been with us from the beginning, thank you. This community is what you’ve helped make it.
Keep an eye out for details on our next gathering. In the meantime, if you’d like to stay connected, get in touch with the team at Grosvenor House or follow us for updates.
Here’s to the next ten!
