In a Nutshell…
Reveal Private Investigations is a leading Midlands-based private investigation agency that has been a client of Grosvenor House since 2017. In this interview, Managing Director David Jones shares insights on handling sensitive cases, the importance of client retention, and how flexible workspace solutions, from co-working desks and call handling to registered office services, have adapted alongside their business growth.
At Grosvenor House, we take immense pride in supporting ambitious businesses at every stage of their journey. In our latest Client Showcase, we sat down with David Jones, Managing Director of Reveal Private Investigators – an established agency delivering professional investigative services to private individuals, corporations, and legal professionals across the UK and internationally.
Having partnered with Grosvenor House for nearly a decade, Reveal Private Investigators demonstrates how adaptability, clear processes, and a strong core strategy drive long-term business success.
A Business Built on Clarity, Discretion, and Trust
Reveal Private Investigators was founded on a straightforward, essential principle: providing clarity and reliable evidence during uncertain or difficult situations. As David explains:
“Reveal Private Investigations is a Midlands-based private investigation agency providing professional investigative services to private individuals, businesses, legal professionals and other organisations. Our work includes covert surveillance, person tracing, process serving, background checks, fraud and employee investigations, and a range of other corporate and private investigation services.”
“The business was built around a simple principle: clients often come to an investigator because they need clarity in a difficult or uncertain situation, and they need information they can rely on. From the outset, our focus has therefore been on providing discreet, lawful and professional investigations supported by clear, objective evidence.”
Over the years, the agency has grown from a small operation into a recognised firm with an international reach, built largely on repeat business and professional referrals.
Navigating Unpredictability, Growth, and Industry Evolution
In the private investigation sector, no two cases are identical, requiring a custom approach for every client inquiry.
“One of the biggest challenges in our industry is that no two investigations are ever quite the same. Clients often approach us with limited information, sensitive circumstances and a problem that does not have an obvious solution. We have to assess each case individually, establish what can realistically and lawfully be achieved, and then build the right investigative strategy around it.”
Beyond operational challenges, balancing business growth with regulatory and technological changes remains a top priority:
“Running and growing a business at the same time presents its own challenges. Maintaining consistently high standards while developing new services, adopting new technology and building a team requires constant attention. The investigative sector has also changed significantly over the years, particularly in relation to technology, data and compliance, so staying current and continuing to evolve is essential.”
Words of Wisdom: Client Retention & Embracing the Waves of Growth
When asked about the best business advice he has received, David emphasises the value of looking after existing clients over constantly chasing new ones:
“It costs far more to win a new customer than it does to retain an existing one. New business is important, but looking after the clients you already have is just as valuable. Provide a great service, build strong relationships and give people a reason to keep coming back.”
Reflecting on the realities of scaling a business, David notes that progress isn’t always linear:
“I would tell myself that growth isn’t always consistent, so don’t get disheartened when things slow down. You can have a year where the business makes huge progress, followed by one where it feels like you’ve barely moved forward. Success rarely follows a straight line and often comes in waves. The important thing is to keep improving, keep making good decisions and not let the quieter periods distract you from how far you’ve already come.”
Behind the Scenes: Dynamic Routines & Centralised Tech
For an investigative agency, flexibility is key, and a standard routine is rarely on the agenda.
“A daily routine would be an absolute dream! My day can vary from a 3am alarm to drive into the countryside and deploy a covert camera, to starting with a dog walk before heading into the office for a day of speaking with clients, reviewing ongoing cases, preparing evidence and working with the team.”
“It can be unpredictable and occasionally chaotic, but I think the variety is one of the things I enjoy most about running Reveal. There genuinely isn’t a typical day, and I’m not sure I’d really want one.”
To keep field investigators, remote team members, and office staff aligned, a reliable central database is non-negotiable:
“Without a doubt, our CRM is the one piece of software we couldn’t live without. Having a team made up of office staff, remote workers and investigators out in the field can make it difficult to maintain one consistent and up-to-date source for all of our client and case information.”
“We use HubSpot as the central point of the business, with our website, phone systems, emails and marketing all integrated into it… As the business has grown, having that central system has become something we genuinely couldn’t operate without.”
Why Grosvenor House?
Reveal Private Investigators joined Grosvenor House in 2017. Over the years, their setup has evolved to reflect their changing operational needs – from utilising fixed co-working desks and call handling services to their current registered office setup.
“We have been with Grosvenor House for almost ten years, so it has been a genuine part of the growth of Reveal. Our requirements have changed considerably during that time: we have used services ranging from call answering and business support through to having a full office with four desks. One of the real strengths of Grosvenor House has been the flexibility to accommodate the business as our needs have changed.”
“Just as importantly, the team have always been excellent to deal with – professional, friendly and genuinely helpful. The building itself is a lovely place to work and provides the professional environment we want for our business. After nearly a decade, the fact that we have continued to use Grosvenor House through different stages of our growth probably says more than anything else about the service they provide.”
We are proud to have supported David and the team at Reveal Private Investigators over the past decade, and we look forward to continuing our partnership as they grow further!
